Halloween Trivia
25 October 2024
Team 'Chicken Dinner' performed frighteningly well at our Halloween Trivia Tee and Tapas event, held at the Mount Irvine Bay Resort.
Chicken Dinner's 60 points just after the penultimate Picture Round was already a MoPro Trivia record, which they obliterated shortly after when they picked up eight points in the 'Who Am I?' Round—which only happens if a team correctly answers upon that round's second clue (out of five).
Interestingly (insanely!), teams Norfolk & Chance and Victorious Venus each clinched the full 10 points for the Who Am I? upon successfully dismantling my first clue! In other words, this was a spectacular, no, a spooktacular game!

My creatures of the night feasted on menu specials like Bat Wings and Charcoal Glazed 5-Spice Pork, and happy hour drink specials like Hocus Pocus and Vampire Blood courtesy of bartender Kester Blake, at the Hummingbird Lounge. And after all that, my insatiable players left the scene of Halloween Trivia with a killing of goodies compliments of our Halloween ABC: Angostura, Bermudez and Carib!
We were also in ominous company with Lady Witch (from Norfolk & Chance) who picked up the Best Costume prize and provided us with characterful zingers in the true spirit of Halloween.
What an unforgettable evening!
Thank you for your macabre excellence, my beautiful and brave players! Keep sharp, and keep at it.

Republic-Themed Trivia Series
23 and 27 September 2024
Our trivia game underwent a special alteration on the anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s 48th Republic Day, and was brought to Tobago and Trinidad on 23 and 27 September, respectively.
In Tobago, The Hummingbird Lounge at Mount Irvine Bay Resort was the scene of a very close battle between the top two teams that ended with the narrow victory of Tobago Sisters over Norfolk & Chance by 0.5 points.
Players were treated to two new rounds on game night. The first was our Sweets Takes, where each team had the choice of sweeping one envelope off the table with variable surprise outcomes therein. This may have greatly helped Norfolk & Chance to become the only team across Trinidad and Tobago to match the birds to the bank notes perfectly in the Picture Round.
The second new round was the Who Am I? round—a trivia staple—making its first appearance, where Team Tobago Sisters correctly identified the pan enthusiast and the nation’s Chief Scout, President Christine Kangaloo, after four clues. The final addition of the three points from the Instagram contest prior to the game sealed the deal for Tobago Sisters, who also collected their elegant bottled drink from that win!
In Trinidad, the Head Office of the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago welcomed us for our first public game in Trinidad itself. Teams braved a rainy evening to vie for prizes and glory, and one—called The Vault—weathered the competition to claim first place.
A fast-paced game was the order of the venue where there was an even faster emergence of the lead by The Vault. The Single Bonus Question asked for the number of pages in the Dictionary of the English/Creole of Trinidad & Tobago. The Vault won the three bonus points, guessing 984 pages (the closest to the actual 1037), while Paws & Pimento and Gus et al assumed 694 and 295, respectively.
Paws & Pimento led the Picture Round by just one point over Gus et al, but the bell finally tolled on all opponents when The Vault deciphered that President Kangaloo was the mystery law professional, cancer survivor and avid kitchen enthusiast as described in the Who Am I? clues.
It was an intimate first game for Trinidad which we hope can blossom into a can’t-miss social event on your calendars! Next time, DATT-venue players, there. will. be. pizza!
Keep sharp, and keep at it.

Powerpuff Girls vs Technology
24 August 2024
MoPro’s signature Trivia Game was transformed into an hour-long format for a team-building exercise at the monthly staff meeting of the Rapidfire Kidz Foundation.
Technology was the overall theme of this game. We covered tech from its highly digital versions (alliterative smartphone apps) to its analog, or ‘Beta’, versions (What’s the widely retold two-word password from Arabic folklore that was used to open the mouth of a cave?) See answers below!
Team Powerpuff Girls had the most up-to-date knowledge of the groups, eventually conquering the game and relegating Born Winners and Champions to 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. With bold name selections like these, it was clear that these players were very competitive. The frequent ribbing of one another during gameplay created more camaraderie within the Foundation’s members, as envisioned.
Answers: digital tech: TikTok, Paypal; analog tech: Open Sesame!

DATT Kids Trivia
24 August 2024
MoPro had the distinct pleasure of running a trivia game with teenagers attending a day camp at the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago in Chaguanas.
Eighteen youngsters were grouped into three teams (Watermelon, Curry, and Certified Salt), and played a calm and collected trivia game that saw neck and neck results until the very last moments of the game.
During the game, Curry had bested the other teams in a meaningful Bonus Round, which asked for an estimate of the population of Trinidad & Tobago who were within the age group 10–19 years old. Their 109,062 was the closest guess to the Central Statistical Office’s most recent estimate of 191,883.
Alas, Team Curry’s game came crashing down through an unfortunate misinterpretation in the Picture Round, with all 12 of their guesses being wrong—while all 12 guesses of Team Watermelon’s were right! This sealed the victory for Watermelon who where also comfortably ahead of the runners-up Certified Salt.
Coincidentally, the theme of the critical Picture Round was ‘terms and phrases containing the four classical or ancient elements’, for example: water molecule, air hockey, earthworm, firefighter, and yes, watermelon.

Love Wins at Pride Trivia
20 July 2024
In an exhilarating showcase of knowledge and enthusiasm, Gentleman Jack emerged the winners of the first Pride Trivia!
They staved off six other teams—taking the lead from the very start—and remained ahead of Saucier Than You. Kudos to all the contenders who dazzled us with their deep understanding of LGBTQ+ history and culture, with questions running the gamut from cultural icons like Anastasia Beaverhausen and Wendy Fitzwilliam to historical and current affairs, such as LGBTQ+ rights around the world.
We at MoPro thank Mount Irvine Bay Resort for their absolutely A-class venue, and our sponsor Shore Things Café & Restaurant for prizes. The Tobago Pride Association saw its largest gathering in years and it was truly a safe space where, as always, love is love, and where LOVE WINS.
A big congratulations to all teams for their dedication and passion—your participation and spirit made this event a resounding success!

Sunday Trivia Night
19 November 2023
MoPro is pleased to announce that our trivia model was tested with our first live game at the charming Robinson Crusoe Bar in the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort in Tobago!
Our champions, a visiting couple from the UK who called themselves The Barrow Barons, amassed 21 points in a game of three rounds. Special shout-out to our second-place finisher Jamie, who nearly won the game all by herself!
The questions took us from Ancient Arabia to modern Alaska, and from 19th century history to the advent of online video sharing, along with popular music from the last few decades.
Staff at the restaurant found it slightly challenging with keeping mum on answers they knew and hoped this event was next held on their days off. Nothing like FOMO to testify that it was worth every minute.
Until we meet again, players.
